2018 #goals

My 2018 year’s resolution is inspired by Newton’s 3rd law of motion (note: this is not a science related article), that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I’ve decided to purge the old habits and forge new ones that I believe will send me in the right direction. I tend to overthink, like a lot, probably too much and an idea will sit in my head far too long (to the point that its not “done” its fried, burnt to a crisp). Most of my ideas I sit on are art projects that never quite get off the ground and if they do I let them fall through the cracks. Also traveling, completing my Austin bucket list, or instilling life changes tend to get talked about more than exercised.

So, Resolution Part 1: Think less, Do more
Which dumbed down like that seems pretty easy, but like most resolutions “easier said than done” am I right?  Once part 1 in set in motion part 2 should fall in to place quite naturally.

Resolution Part 2: Create more, Produce less

Part 1 directly applies to creating more. I need to dive in and do the work. I need to submerge my self in creativity again. As I plan to create more of one thing, I want to produce less of another.
Being waste free is my dream but cutting back on waste is step one so thats what I’ll be doing this year.
Some easy first steps I’ll be enforcing are 1) cutting back on materials that may never decompose like styrofoam, 2) recycling things like cardboard and plastics and 3) composting things like food trimmings and yard clippings. It seems tedious but we focus so much on our possessions and purchases I think we all can take a little time to think about where our trash ends up.
My end game is to always to make the world and myself better. Nothing is more accountable than putting your resolution down … on the internet for the world to see! So be sure to think about what changes you want to make in your life and the world.
